Welcome crafty friends! I’m so glad you are here. Let’s play along with this week’s Paper Craft Crew challenge. This week we have a fun vertical card sketch to work with.

Sometimes with a card sketch, it takes a while for an idea to form. Not with this one. Once I grabbed the Zoo Globe stamp set, I knew what I wanted to do.

The darling little elephant was colored with Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends with a little Marvelous Magenta on the toenails. The black and white striped panel is from the True Love DSP in the Jan-June ’21 Stampin’ Up! mini catalog.

happy 1st birthday

This is by far one of my most loved cards to create – a card to celebrate my granddaughter’s first birthday! My daughter wanted elephants and florals for her party. I created the invitations with that theme. I shared that last week. I decided those adorable elephants would be perfect for her birthday card as well.

The pink panel was created by smooshing colors on a piece of watercolor paper. I also watercolored the little elephant and balloon.

It has been such a joy to watch my granddaughter grow over the past twelve months. From those first sweet snuggles holding a new born to the smiles and babbles to waving HI to grandma over a Facetime call. Melt my heart. I look forward to each new moment with this little sweetheart. Miss Amelia Mae, you fill my heart with joy.

osat blog hop: where the wild things grow

Hello friends! Welcome to this month’s One Stamp At A Time blog hop: Where the Wild Things Grow. The blog hop team will be showcasing projects that feature plants. When this theme came up, I know I’d be reaching for the beautiful Forever Greenery DSP and Forever Fern stamp set. I set out to create a card and blessings journal for a friend.

I created a fun pocket card from the gorgeous DSP.

For the blessings journal:

I cut several sheets of Whisper White card stock to 5.5″x7″, scored the 7″ side at 3.5″. These were folded in half, then stacked together with the DSP cover and stapled on the center fold to create the booklet. I added a stitched rectangle and some of the fern dies on the front cover and wrapped it with a Crumb Cake belly band to hold it shut.

The corners of the inside pages were stamped with one of the leaf images in Soft Sea Foam ink. It doesn’t show up very well in the photo, but it’s there.

The booklet has one page for each month to write down things you are grateful for. At the end of the year you can look back and be reminded of your many blessings.

pink ombre

I have been practicing a lot lately with stencils and blending brushes. I love the gradient looks you can get. I tried what I call double layer blending. It was perfect for this Valentine card!

For this card, I first lightly blended Merry Merlot, Rococo Rose and Blushing Bride onto a white panel. Next, I laid my Taylored Expressions Mini Slim Cable Knit stencil over and added more of the same colors. The panel was then cut with a mini slim stitched rectangle die. The hearts are from Stampin’ Up!’s Stitched Be Mine dies. I hand wrote the word “love” with a black pen and added a few rhinestones for a bit of bling.

Have you tried double layer blending with stencils? I’ve got a few more ideas in the works with this. Thanks for stopping by! Join me again to shine a spotlight on creativity!

Hello crafty friends! Are you ready for another challenge from the Paper Craft Crew? Let’s try a little Tic Tac Toe shall we –

Pick a row – horizontal, vertical, or diagonal – and incorporate those three things into your creation. I chose the center horizontal row: Birthday Celebration, Use a Die or Punch and Feminine. It was perfect since I was making invitations for my Granddaughter’s FIRST Birthday celebration!

My daughter requested elephant and florals. This adorable little elephant from My Favorite Things was perfect. I colored her and the balloon with Copic Sketch markers.

The floral patterned paper is from Carta Bella. So sweet! I think it hits the mark for the tic tac toe challenge. I loved creating these for my sweet little granddaughter. I used this Adorable Elephants set from MFT for her birthday card as well. Check back on her birthday -Valentine’s day for that one. Best Valentine I ever received!

For now, be sure to check out more great creations for this challenge over on the Paper Craft Crew blog. Join the fun and play along!

thank you for being so sweet

Hello friends! I had a chance to visit the Taylored Expressions store in November. It was such a fun visit and included a super cute make&take project! I was introduced to (and completely hooked on) Mini Slim cards. These cards are 3.5″x6″. I have been having a lot of fun creating in this size.

I decided to play along with Taylored Expressions #TEmakerchallenge for January.

I love the Rio color pallet: Strawberry Milkshake, Lollipop, Confetti Cake, and Blue Raspberry. I used it with the Zig Zag Mini Slim Stencil.

My “something that begins with A” is and anemone flower from the Stampin’ Up! Floral Essence set. I created the flower center by distressing some Lollipop card stock and gluing the paper fluff to the flower center. I finished off the card with a Simple Strip sentiment and some clear drip drops.

A cheerful card to send to a friend. Thanks for stopping by! Join me again to shine a spotlight on creativity!

Hello friends! I’m here with my creation for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. I really enjoy using card sketches as a starting point for a card.

Sometimes, I stick to a sketch closely. Sometimes, I like to look for unique takes on elements in the sketch. This time, I did a bit of both.

I used a stencil and blending brush to create the “wash” background and a flower for the circle element. The rest of the card is true to the sketch. A fun card for a friend.

Come on and play along with the Paper Craft Crew! I’d love to see what you create with this sketch!

hot air balloons

What is it about hot air balloons? The are so interesting and, well, up-lifting. I know, I know…too obvious. I couldn’t help myself.

I really like the vintage look of the one in the new Soar confidently set.

I had fun designing this card. I started by stamping the balloon on Crumb Cake card stock with white ink. Once it was dry, I added some black speckles with my Stampin’ Write marker. Next I added some Just Jade watercolor splatters. I let it completely dry before cutting the edge and adding strips of adhesive which I covered with Gold Gilding Leaf.

The sentiment is embossed in white and cut out with a stitched circle die, with ribbon added for a medallion look.

Who’s ready for another Paper Craft Crew Challenge?!? Check out this fun card sketch –

There are a lot of fun elements in this layout and I stayed true to them in my creation.

I took my inspiration from the fun Paper Blooms DSP in the 2020 Sale-a-Bration brochure. I love the large blooms and fun color pallet. I added a strip of Rococo Rose print DSP. The sentiment is from the So Sentimental set.

A fun layout to send get well wishes to someone. Head on over to the Paper Craft Crew blog to see more inspiration using this layout and join in the fun!

soar confidently

I thought I’d pop on to quickly share a card I made for a recent card swap. It uses a new set in the new Stampin’ Up! mini catalog – Soar Confidently. It features a hot air balloon, zeppelin, and a bi-wing airplane. One of my son-in-laws is a pilot, so I had to add this set to my collection.

My color pallet is Crumb Cake, Misty Moonlight, and Seaside Spray. On the Seaside Spray panel, I repeatedly stamped the zeppelin in Seaside Spray ink. Then I used the dot stencil and texture paste. The globe die cut is from the World Map die set. The Misty Moonlight panel is embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder. I roughed up the edges of the panels for extra texture and sponged around the Crumb Cake card base and globe die cut for an antiqued effect.
