Design Challenge

pcc #392

Hello friends! Are you ready for another Paper Craft Crew Challenge?

This is a great card sketch. It is a great go-to layout with a lot of possibilities. I just got some new goodies from Stampin’ Up! that I was ready to get creative with. And immediately knew what I wanted to do with this sketch.

I love the cut out tree from the Pine Woods dies. It’s hard to see, but the Old Olive layer beneath the white oval has been embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D folder. The card base is sponged with Pear Pizzazz ink for a subtle shadow.

Texture can go along way to step up a card design. There is a lot of texture on this simple card. I love die cut words, and the Joy die cut is a fun greeting for this layout.

paper craft crew challenge #388

Boy, summer is just flying by. I kind of wish it would slow down. But, time marches on. And with another week, comes another Paper craft Crew challenge! We are stepping away from the card sketches this week and working with an inspiration photo.

Oh, I love the summer vibe of this photo. The bright colors are fantastic. So, obviously, I didn’t use any of that for my card. LOL! I really like the rule grouping of threes in this pic. Here’s how that played out in my card.

I sponged three columns of color on my stitched rectangle panel: So Saffron, Rococo Rose, and Blushing Bride. Then I stamped the diamond image from the Prized Peony set in those same colors. The peony images were stamped in Gray Granite and watercolored. Finished card size is 3.5″x5″

paper craft crew challenge #387

Hello friends! Are you ready for a challenge? A Paper Craft Crew Challenge that is! This PCC has a vertical card sketch to jump start your creativity.

For my card, I did try to work with triangles, but I really wasn’t happy with anything I came up with. So, I decided to go for something else. I die cut some flowers from the Poppy Moments die set from Petal Pink and Flirty Flamingo. Then I used Polka Dot stencil to create a fun background to show off the beautiful flowers. I love black and white polka dots!

I extended the strip across the full length of the card front. I felt it grounded the images more. and, I like the two rhinestone gems on the right. I think I need to make a bunch of these in different color combos!

paper craft crew challenge #385

Hello crafty friends. Come play along with this week’s Paper Craft Crew Challenge. We are changing things up this week with a Tic Tac Toe challenge. Just pick a row and include those things in your creation.

I chose the center vertical row: Watercolor Background, Favorite Color and Anything but a Floral. But, my creation also fits the top horizontal row: Birthday Theme, Watercolor Background and Masculine. Double win!

I started with a card base from water color paper. Card size is 3.5″x5″. I did the watercolor background freehand using some of my favorite colors: Lemon Lime Twist, Coastal Cabana, and Grapefruit Grove. For the cake, I did some no line watercoloring.

paper craft crew challenge #382

Hello friends! So glad to have you join me today. I’m joining the Paper Craft Crew Design Team to kick off this week’s challenge. This time a fun color combo.

I know the challenge says to use 3 of the 4 colors, but I went big and used them all! To compliment this color pallet, I chose a fun stamp set from The Stamp Market: Petal Perfection.

Aren’t those giant flowers gorgeous! I love how they fill the card front. And, they look great against the Navy striped background paper. The sentiment is also from The Stamp Market: Tons of Type stamp set.

Head on over to the Paper Craft Crew Blog and join in the fun. Create your own project with these colors and share it in the challenge link. We would love to have you play along – the more, the merrier!

Time for this week’s challenge from the Paper Craft Crew! We have another great card sketch to inspire your creativity.

I decided to play with some of the new In colors from Stampin’ Up! – Misty Moonlight, Magenta Madness, Bumble Bee – and the new Tasteful Touches stamp set.

I love the softness of the flower and feather images against the different geometric patterns. Be sure to head over to the Papercraft Crew blog and check out the rest of the Design team’s project and then take part in the challenge yourself!

new level of wonderful

Hello crafty friends! Do you ever feel like your creativity has run off no where to be found? I think we all have those moments. Playing along with a challenge is a fun way to get things flowing. Speaking of a challenge…

Paper Craft Crew Challenges has a new challenge out. This week it’s a fun sketch to work with.

Card sketches are a great way to jumpstart your creativity. You can create the sketch exactly as it is, or use it a starting point and let your creativity take over. Here is my take on this sketch.

I used the new Celebrate Sunflowers set. The flower is colored with Stampin’ Blends markers. This card also uses two of the new In Colors the three little enamel dots are Bumble Bee – a gorgeous yellow, and the scalloped frame is Misty Moonlight – a lovely blue. I really like this sentiment. It could be used for many occasions, but I think it is a great way to wish someone a Happy Birthday!

I hope you will join in and play along with this fun sketch. Then head over to the Paper Craft Crew blog and link your card to share with the crew.

I love a good challenge

Hello friends! I have some exciting news – I have joined the Paper Craft Crew Challenges Design Team!

Each week the Paper Craft Crew puts out a new crafty challenge: a card sketch, color combo, inspiration photo or tic tac toe, etc and invites paper crafters to join the challenge and create something fun! The Design Team kicks things off to give you all some added inspiration. I was honored the PCC Team coordinator, and my friend, Pam asked me to join. I love a good challenge and I look forward to the creativity ahead.

Today’s challenge is this fun inspiration photo:

After staring at the photo for awhile, I asked myself – What do I like about the picture? I like the white space with bold pops of color and the aqua, bright pink and orange colors. I also like the single flower focal point. Here is how I put those elements together.

I opted to put the flower focal point on the opposite side of the card because of the natural bend the stamped image had. I used an embossing folder to give some texture and depth to the background taken from the out of focus background in the inspiration photo. (sneak peek of the Old World Paper 3D folder and new In Color Magenta Madness from the NEW 2020-21 Stampin’ Up! catalog!)

Check out the Paper Craft Crew Challenges blog and join the fun! Create your own project and share it in the PCC#379 post. Challenges are open for one week. Who knows, you may even be a Top Pick!

Digging out from one snowstorm with another right around the corner – sounds like a perfect time to hunker down in my studio. My Inky Friends ave another design challenge to help kick your crafting mojo in gear. This time it is one of my favorite color combos chosen from a sample on page 37 of the 2019 Occasions catalog. Right now those colors are making me think of spring. In the midst of all this snow, I’ll take what I can get. Here is my project with this color scheme.

I made that fantastic watercolor background with a technique I featured in this post. The flower and sentiment are from the All That You Are stamp set in the Occasions catalog.

Check out what the rest of the Inky Friends design team has created, then create your own project putting the color combo center stage. Be sure to share your creation by linking to the My Inky Friends design challenge 15 page.

My Inky Friends are back with a new design challenge! This one is a layout based on a card on page 3 of the new Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog. Be sure to check out all of the great inspiration over at My Inky Friends and then play along and share your creation based on this fun sketch!

I simply love the card this sketch is based on, so my first instinct was to reach for florals. But then I stopped and thought, “I need to push myself to something different”, so I reached for the new Geared up Garage. I always struggle with making cards for men. But, this set and sketch came together for a fun card that is perfect for the gear head in your life.
