Broadway Birthday

stamp review crew: broadway birthday

Hello, my crafty friends! It is time for another exciting Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop! In the spotlight today: Broadway Birthday. I must say, I was particularly drawn to this set when it was first released. Hmmmm, I wonder why?

I have two projects to share today. I used the same color scheme for both: Terracotta Tile, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black, Whisper White.

I am really pleased with how these turned out. I love how the color pops against the black and white. Let’s take a closer look.

The sentiment is embossed in white on Basic Black card stock. I colored the word “never” with Dark Mango Melody Stampin’ Blends. I created an ombre look by stamping “WISH” once, then stamping again in each color without re-inking the stamp. For the top Daffodil Delight I stamped a third time without re-inking. It is faint and didn’t show up in the photo, but it is there.

For my second card, I started with the awesome black and white striped pattern from the Golden Honey Specialty DSP. I LOVE black and white stripes.

The Mango Melody Starburst circle is embossed with the Subtle 3D embossing folder for some added texture.

happy 20 my son

I am trying to wrap my head around the fact that my son…my youngest child…my baby boy…turned 20 on Monday.  I no longer have any teenagers.  When did this happen?  I swear he was just starting Kindergarten.  Now, he is in his second year of college.  I wanted to share the card I made for him.  Full disclosure: it uses some retired paper and ink colors.

Happy 20 - Center Stage Stamping

I made a shaker card with 20 candles in the “0”! The “Happy Birthday” (stamped in Crumb Cake) is from Picture Perfect Birthday. The banner is from Birthday Banners and sentiments are from Broadway Birthday. I used a white gel pen to make the dots around the shaker panel. I am happy with the final result, but it took me a while to get there.  It is hard making a card for a 20 year old boy…um, young man….er, guy. I think I need more time to full grasp this milestone.  But, another is right around the corner.  In 10 days, my middle child turns 21!!  Someone hit the pause button.  Time is moving too fast.

happy birthday to my hubby

We are one week away from Stamp-n-Storage’s annual warehouse sale and Grand Opening of our new retail space.  It is crunch time to get everything done.  It hasn’t left much time for stamping this week.  But I did have to pop on to say Happy Birthday to my amazing husband, Brett.

Hooray, let's celebrate you - Center Stage Stamping

He is hip deep in all of the details with moving SnS to the new location and the Grand Opening.  I will be taking him out for supper at Buffalo Wild Wings so he can enjoy his favorite Big jack Daddy burger.  Hopefully he will get some time to enjoy his day.  He constantly amazes me with his abilities to run this business and keep it growing.  I am super blessed to have him by my side.  Happy Birthday, Brett!  I love you so very much!

Back on Broadway

I’m back today with another Broadway Bound Suite project.  What can I say, I REALLY like this suite!

Never to old to wish - Center Stage Stamping

Isn’t that marquee framelit die awesome!  It has holes in it for perfect placement of the metallic pearls.  And, can we talk about the Lemon Lime Twist striped paper!?  LOVE IT!!  The bold stripes are a great base for the marquee greeting.  The photopolymer stamps make lining up the greeting a breeze.

Well, I guess I better get back to work packing up two kids to move off to college later this week. So, that’s a wrap for now.  Happy Stamping!

inky friends: suite designs blog hop

Welcome back!  I excited to be part of My Inky Friends Suite Designs Blog Hop!  This time we are putting a spotlight on various product suites in the 2018-19 Stampin’ Up! catalog.  I am thrilled to put the broadway Bound suite center stage! (I know, you are all so surprised that i would pick that suite.  What can I say?  Somethings are just meant to be!)  This dramatic suite can be found on page 69.

Let’s start with this fun project pairing.

Golden Broadway Birthday - Center Stage Stamping

Who wouldn’t love to get a birthday treat like this.  The gold foil in the Broadway Bound designer series paper brings out that Broadway sparkle!

Hooray cupcake - Center Stage Stamping

First off how awesome is this cupcake topper?  A bit of gold glimmer paper punched with the Starburst punch makes a great base for the fun greeting. A few gold Metallic Pearls are a great finishing touch.

Broadway Wish card - Center Stage Stamping

The gold shimmer cut from the Broadway Lights Framelits balloons make this a great coordinating card for the cupcake treat.

Broadway Wish set - Center Stage Stamping

Here is a closer look at the gift box.

let's celebrate gift box - Center Stage Stamping

I started with one of the Lustrous White Mini Gable Boxes.  I wrapped the bottom with the cake pattern from the Broadway Bound dsp.  I glued some Lovely Lipstick 1/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon around the top.  The greeting on the box is layered as follows: 1-3/8″ scallop circle in Basic Black, 1-1/4″ circle in Lovely Lipstick, the hat die cut from the Broadway Lights Framelits (I added the black dots with a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker).  I stamped the sentiment on Lemon Lime Twist card stock and cut it apart and adhered to the circle.  This element is added to the box with dimensionals.

Broadway Birthday Wish card- Center Stage Stamping

I let the Broadway Bound dsp take center stage for this card.  The little candle embellishment on the “I” is one of the silver Candle Embellishments.  But wait, it’s pink, not silver.  Ah ha!  I colored it with the dark Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Blend!  How cool is that?

let’s celebrate you

I’m back with another card using the Broadway Birthday stamp set.  This set is really quite versatile. You can go big and bold like this card, or you can go for a more subtle look like today’s card.

Let's Celebrate You - Center Stage Stamping

Hard to believe that is from the same set isn’t it?  How fun is that little ice cream cone!  I decided to let the ice cream be a simple focal point and the only color on the card.  But that doesn’t mean the card has to be boring.  Texture can help with that.  The Thick Whisper White card base is embossed with the Tufted 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I just love the quilted look it gives  The Ice cream cone is stamped in Crumb Cake ink on Crumb Cake card stock and the ice cream is Flirty Flamingo ink stamped on Powder Pink card stock.  I cut it out with the coordinating Broadway Lights Framelits. Some Linen thread and a little rhinestone are the finishing touches.

never too old to make a wish

When I first saw the Broadway Bound suite of products in the new Stampin’ Up! catalog I knew I had to have it.  I know, shocking, right?  They had me at broadway.  The entire suite is amazing.  I think used most of the products in it on today’s card.

Never too old to make a wish - Center Stage Stamping

I started with a strip of the Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper.  One side of each sheet has wonderful gold foil accents on it!  Next I stamped ‘WISH” in Lemon Lime Twist.  Above that I stamped the remainder of the sentiment that I colored with Stampin’ Write Markers so I could get more than one color.  I then stamped the little diamond shapes, added the fun little gold candle embellishment and wrapped a little Lovely Lipstick ribbon around. Who wouldn’t love bright, fun birthday reminder like this?

inky friends – dc7

It’s time for another design challenge from My Inky Friends!  This time it is a layout based on a card on page 48 of the 2018-19 Stampin’ Up! catalog.  I knew the Broadway Bound suite would be great for this challenge.  This set was a must get on my first order from the new catalog.  Hmmmm, I wonder why?  I decided to turn the sketch on its side.

Broadway Birthday Wish - Center Stage Stamping

The only stamping is the “make a” banner.  Gotta love the Broadway Lights framelits!!  The marquee is perfect to fill in with the Metallic Pearls featured in the suite, or my favorite embellishment -Basic Rhinestones!  Perfect for a little Broadway Bling!

Make sure you go over to My Inky Friends and see all the other great ideas for this card layout, then play along! Create your own project based on this sketch and share it with us.

Thanks for stopping by! Happy Stamping!
